Applications for Unity Fund grants are now open and will close at midnight on 17th November 2020. Below you will find all the information you and your organisation will need before starting your application. Please read through our eligibility criteria and guidelines carefully before beginning your application.

Once you begin your application there is no option to save your details part-way through, so please make sure you have all the necessary information about your organisation to hand before commencing the application process. Please note you can only submit one application for consideration.

Eligibility criteria

In order to apply for this grant programme, applicants must meet the following criteria.

What type of organisations can apply?

  • Applications which will aid programmes that support marginalised groups within the LGBT+ community are encouraged and will be prioritised

  • LGBT+ (grassroots) organisations that are advocating for and addressing the needs of LGBT+ people within the UK, Republic of Ireland or the Channel Isles

  • LGBT+ organisations operating with a yearly budget of no more than £100,000

  • Those established as a Charity, Community Interest Company (CIC) or Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). If none of the above, consideration can still be given, but applicants must be able provide evidence of six months of continuous activism and have a fiscal sponsor

  • Organisations must be able to provide a suitable plan on the use of the funding, and for the avoidance of doubt, the funding should be aimed at promoting LGBT+ programmes

What type of item can be funded?

  • Projects that will provide advancement to LGBT+ communities

  • Emergency funding for LGBT+ projects, groups or organisations that are on the frontline in supporting the community during a crisis or major incident

What will the grant programme not fund?

  • Projects from individuals

  • Salaries of full-time or part-time staff

  • Legal fees

Conditions

The grant must be used for the objectives detailed in your application and must be accounted for as a restricted fund. Successful grant applicants will be expected to provide Pride in London with a short report or case study and pictures 6 months after receiving funds followed by a final report at the end of the project.

If successful, applicants shall provide acknowledgement of funding being provided by Pride in London in their outward facing presence e.g. press releases, social media, advertisements, websites etc. Use of Pride in London trademarks or logos or any intellectual property shall be subject to the appropriate usage terms.

The application process

Applications (including all supporting documents) must be received by the closing date stated to be considered. All completed forms received by Pride in London will be acknowledged.

On the acknowledgement email/letter there will be a reference number for future use in any correspondence regarding the project. Please use this number as a point of reference if you have any queries regarding your application and need to contact us.

When filling in the application form:

  • Please give the official name of the organisation that will be responsible for delivering the project and administering the grant.

  • Please provide the name of the person who will have particular responsibility for your grant.

  • You must enclose a copy of your latest Income and Expenditure Accounts with your application. These should be the accounts showing your Income and Expenditure for the previous year, a bank statement is not sufficient.

    If the accounts are not included, your application will not be considered.

  • Please tell us the amount you are requesting from the Unity Fund. There are two grants of £5000 available. All other grants available will be up to £1000.

  • Ensure you have all the necessary information to hand before you begin filling in the application form

Next steps

All applications received will be reviewed by our Applications Panel to establish legitimacy of the organisation/group/project, their work, previous project outcomes, financial eligibility and application objectives. Our panel members may be in direct contact with you during the application review process, which will take place between 18th November to 13th December.

A shortlist will then be decided by 3rd January 2021 and will be submitted to the Pride in London Board to make the final decision on the awarding of funding grants, including any additional terms if appropriate (including without limitation, progress reports, timelines for delivery, details of other grants etc.). Successful grant applicants will be notified by 25th January 2021. Please note applicants will be updated after each round. All decisions are final and no appeals will be entertained.

All successful grant applicants will be required to sign and return a formal acknowledgement form before payment(s) is released.

Please note

  • Pride in London reserves the right to withdraw funding at any time upon providing notice to applicants in the event Pride in London finds concerns in the way the funding is being used.

  • Payment will be made to the nominated bank account within 30 days and excludes any taxes due. If the funding attracts taxes due on the applicant, Pride in London will not be liable for such taxes.

  • We will be in regular contact to monitor progress and to ensure that funds granted are making a positive impact on LGBT+ communities.

  • From time to time as may be required, Pride in London shall reserve the right to audit successful applicant's documentation to determine that the use of the funding is in accordance with the terms of the grant.

  • The applicant shall ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
